Fane Waqatabu

Executive Assistant

Fane Waqatabu is an Executive Assistant and Operations Associate to Dr. Njenga at Engage Global Health, bringing valuable experience in healthcare, health and wellness, and community advocacy. Starting her journey at the age of 18 as a health care aide, she quickly became a Homecare Service Coordinator with Catholic Social Services, contracted by Alberta Health Services, by 21.

Fane has earned diplomas in Applied Nutrition Science and Personal Fitness Training, along with a certification as a Medical Exercise Specialist. Her diverse background includes working as an Event Coordinator, managing client relationships, and collaborating with staff to bring client visions to life.

Previously, she founded a mobile wellness service company to deliver and implement tailored medical exercise programs to clients with various medical conditions, along with conducting group workshops and one-on-one wellness sessions.

Her commitment to community service is highlighted by her ongoing work with the Fijian i-Taukei Cultural Association of Alberta (FiCAA), where she served as Secretary and Board Director for two years and continues to lead initiatives. Additionally, she is involved as a Presenter in the Health Literacy Project at the Alberta Immigration Women and Children Centre.

Passionate about advocating for marginalized communities, Fane is inspired by her identity as an Indigenous Fijian and an immigrant. In her role as Executive Assistant and Operations Associate, she views supporting Dr. Njenga and contributing to Engage Global Health's mission as a significant privilege, reflecting her dedication to the communities she serves in Canada and beyond.
