Maternal & Child Health

EGH partners with Amani Family Centre, a community-based maternity and child health facility in Kanyogoga slum led by midwife Diane Lockhart. The Centre has delivered over 1,800 babies and provides high-quality, evidence-based care to vulnerable families.

Services include:

  • Maternity and child health care

  • Antenatal and postnatal services

  • Emergency first aid and health screenings

  • Social support for mothers

  • A food bank and safe house for women in crisis

EGH provides advisory support and has facilitated the engagement of a medical officer to expand access to additional primary care services for mothers and their families.

Youth Skills Development

EGH also works with Mirembe Community College (MCC), a vocational institute, whose main campus is located in Busiika (towards Luwero-Zirobwe, central Uganda), a rural area. The institute  has trained over 2,030 youth in practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship.

Training programs include areas such as:

  • Hairdressing and cosmetology

  • Tailoring and fashion design

  • Computer studies

  • Agriculture and mushroom growing

  • Catering and food production

  • Carpentry and joinery

MCC combines vocational training with psycho-social support to reduce economic vulnerability and promote holistic youth development.

EGH provides strategic advisory support, leadership capacity building, and organizational strengthening to enhance sustainability and long-term impact.

In Uganda, EGH operates in an advisory and capacity-strengthening role, advancing community-led solutions aligned with SDG 3 (Health), SDG 4 (Education), and SDG 8 (Decent Work).
